Obsessive Whiny
Act 1, Scene 1, Lines 226-251
"How happy some o'er other some can be!
Through Athens I am thought as fair as she.
But what of that? Demetrius thinks not so;
He will not know what all but he do know:
And as he errs, doting on Hermia’s eyes,
So I, admiring of his qualities:
Things base and vile, holding no quantity,
Love can transpose to form and dignity:
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind:
And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind:
Nor hath Love’s mind of any judgment taste;
Wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste:
And therefore is Love said to be a child,
Because in choice he is so oft beguiled.
As waggish boys in game themselves forswear,
So the boy Love is perjured everywhere:
For ere Demetrius look'd on Hermia’s eyne,
He hail'd down oaths that he was only mine;
And when this hail some heat from Hermia felt,
So he dissolved, and showers of oaths did melt.
I will go tell him of fair Hermia’s flight:
Then to the wood will he to-morrow night
Pursue her; And for this intelligence
If I have thanks, it is a dear expense:
But herein mean I to enrich my pain,
To have his sight thither and back again."
Before:
Egeus is telling Theseus about letting Demetrius marry her daughter Hermia. Hermia comes in and says that she doesn’t love Demetrius, she loves Lysander. Theseus gives her two choices to choose from if she doesn’t marry Demetrius; one, be a nun or two, die. Then Lysander comes and tells Hermia to leave Athens with him and get married. Lysander and Hermia are meeting in the woods where Helena and Lysander once met. Hermia see's Helena and called her a beautiful woman, but Helena thinks the reason Demetrius doesn't love her is because she's not as pretty as Hermia.Then they tell Helena about their plan for the night.
After:
The actors that will be performing in Theseus’ wedding are meeting to prepare for the play. Peter Quince assigns the actors parts, but Bottom wants to play every role in the play. Then they all agree to meet and rehearse in the same forest that Hermia and Lysander are going to meet.
This passage is about Helena thinking she’s not pretty like Hermia and that’s the reason why Demetrius doesn’t love her. She also said when people are in love, they see with their minds and not with eyes. Paintings of cupid are blind, which also means love is blind. Demetrius promised to love only Helena before he saw Hermia. But his promises melted away when seeing Hermia. Helena is obsessive because she is always thinking about Demetrius and wants to follow him wherever he goes. Helena said she’s going to tell Demetrius about their plan and thinks he’ll be grateful to her. She thinks it’s worth her pain to tell Demetrius because at least she could see him when he leaves and comes back. But she didn’t stay, instead she followed him into the forest and finally Demetrius got angry at her.

Low self-esteem
Act 2, Scene 1, Lines 202-210
"And even for that do I love you the more.
I am your spaniel; and, Demetrius,
The more you beat me, I will fawn on you:
Use me but as your spaniel, spurns me, strike me,
Neglect me, lose me; only give me leave,
Unworthy as I am, to follow you.
What worser place can I beg in your love,-
And yet a place of high respect with me,-
Than to be used as you use your dog?"
Before:
Titania and Oberon are having a fight and they're both angry at each other. So Oberon told Puck to get a flower and apply the juice on Titania's eye; the person that has the juice on their eyes will fall in love with the first thing they see when they open their eyes. Then they heard Helena and Demetrius talking.
After:
Oberon decided to help Helena. He told Puck to apply the love juice on an Athenian man's eyes. After Demetrius awakes hopefully he'll fall in love with Helena.
This passage shows that she has low self-esteem. She's so crazy in love with Demetrius that she'd rather be his dog. And it's okay for him to beat her and strike her. She only wants his attention. It doesn't matter if he likes her or not, she just wants to follow him and stare at him. She isn't afraid of any of Demetrius' threats. She can't get over the fact that Demetrius doesn't love her, and will do whatever she can do to change the truth.

Skeptical Self-pitying Insecure_
Act 3, Scene 2, Lines 145-161
"O spite! O hell! I see you all are bent
To set against me for your merriment:
If you were civil and knew courtesy,
You would not do me thus much injury.
Can you not hate me, as I know you do,
But you must join in souls to mock me too?
If you were men, as men you are in show,
You would not use a gentle lady so;
To vow, and swear, and superpraise my parts,
When I am sure you hate me with your hearts.
You both are rivals, and love Hermia;
And now both rivals, to mock Helena:
A trim exploit, a manly enterprise,
To conjure tears up in a poor maid’s eyes
With your derision! None of noble sort
Would so offend a virgin and extort
A poor soul’s patience, all to make you sport._"
Before:
Oberon asks Puck about what Titania saw when she woke up, and he’s very happy when Puck said she fell in love with an ass. But when Oberon asked about the Athenian guy, he found out that Puck put the love juice on the wrong man’s eyes. So Oberon told Puck to apply the love juice on Demetrius’ eyes. Demetrius wakes up after a little nap, Lysander and Helena enters. Demetrius falls in love with Helena.
After:
Demetrius and Lysander are fighting over Helena. Hermia enters and is very confused about the situation now, but Helena thinks she’s just teasing her like Lysander and Demetrius. Helena said their friendship is gone, and wants Hermia to stop the teasing. Hermia is completely dumbfounded. Their conversation soon turned into a fight.
In this passage Helena is fed up with Demetrius and Lysander. She wants them to stop mocking her, and keep telling them Hermia is the one they love. Helena can’t believe they both love her. She spent so much time thinking why Demetrius doesn’t love her, and now when he does, she can’t embrace nor enjoy it. That’s what makes her skeptical. She needs to overcome her insecurities and deal with her problems instead of rationalizing them.
